Aftershock - the latest release and sequel to Joy Ride from the amazing Desiree Holt

I spent a lot of years in the music business but it wasn’t until recently that I drew on those experiences for my writing. Downstroke and Having It All kicked it off. Then I met the sexiest bass player, Jackie Joyride, who became the inspiration for, what else, Joy Ride, a story of love that could not be denied, despite a million obstacles.
Of course you, my readers (and I thank you for this) wanted the stories about the rest of the band and so Sydney and Rick’s love story was born in my brain. It’s about an industry that demands almost more than it gives. That makes it difficult to have a real personal life. That doesn’t always allow for feelings and that is rife with jealousy.
But it’s also the story of a band with the electricity of the Lightnin’ for which it is named. And it’s the story of two people, a hot rock star and a feisty promotions agent, who collide like an explosion of fireworks. What do you get? #Aftershock.

You can follow Syd and Rick’s story from Decadent Publishing beginning March 28. And Marc and Emma from Joy Ride  play an integral part in what happens. So come on along.

She was still buzzed from the evening when she checked into the hotel. Lightnin’ happened to be checking in at the same time and their excitement was palpable. Even Danny and Garrett came over and gave her a hug. They all rode up in the elevator together, the guys still jazzed, laughing and bumping fists. Except for Rick, who was strangely silent.
They all got off at the same floor she did and headed to their rooms. She was shocked to discover that Rick’s room turned out to be right next to hers. She couldn’t help sliding a glance at him and was stunned to see him watching her, a ravenous look in his eyes. There was no mistaking the desire in his gaze. Did he want her to join him? Or should she ask him if he wanted to come into her room? What was the protocol here?
Unsettled, she fumbled with the keycard at her door, dropping it in her nervous haste to get inside her room. She wasn’t aware he had moved until suddenly he was beside her, taking the card from her fingers. He slid it into the slot and when the lock light turned green he pushed the door open.
“Here you go.” He held the door back with his body, waiting for her to enter the room.
“Th-Thank you.”
She moved past him, rolling her suitcase into the room and turned to him. Before she had time to say anything he grabbed her arms, turned her to face him and pressed her against the door.
“I’ve been wanting to do this all day.” His voice was heavy with a combination of emotion and desire. “I think tonight calls for a celebration, don’t you?”
Speech deserted her and all she could do was nod. She wanted him, this man who had exploded into her life. More than wanted. She was hungry for him, a passion that never seemed to leave her. Reaching up her hands she cupped the roughness of his late night beard, loving the scratchy feel of it.
She tilted her face up just the least little bit to accommodate him and his mouth came down on hers. The minute their lips met heat surged through her as if someone had lit a match to her blood. She clutched at his shoulders to steady herself, knowing she should break away even as her body cried for more. She was drowning in him, his heat and scent invading her. And all she could think was more, more, more.

An Interview With The AMAZING Desiree Holt

Desiree Holt is a whirl wind.  She's a freak of nature.  She's prolific.  She's also The World's Oldest Author of Erotic Romance.  With well over 100 books to her name and hundreds of thousands of adoring fans, it is no stretch to also call her an author who has made it to the big dance.  Despite her growing popularity and fame, she remains the sweet, intense, and business minded woman she's ever been.

If you follow her on Facebook or read any of her blogs, you can get a sense of what this amazing author is truly like.  Her personality shines through in everything she says or does. Yet, if you're anything like me, you still want more.  You want to know more about what makes Desiree tick.  What is she REALLY like?

Today you'll learn some of the intimate secrets of our dear Ms. Holt as she's agreed to answer not only 5 questions, but every question I asked her.  What a sport!

Before we get to her interview, you MUST check out her latest release, Blind Ecstasy, from Secret Cravings  Publishing.

When Johanna Devlin fell in love with Sean Devlin she thought she had it all—a man who loved her as much as she loved him and the perfect Dom for her submissive nature. On her birthday when he asked her to marry him, to wear his collar, she was sure she had it all. But the next day he disappeared and four years later he’s still missing from her life. Except for rare visits to Club Fantasy she’s retreated from the D/s lifestyle. Then her sister insists she accept the gift of a night at Club Fantasy with a Dom who knows just how to satisfy all her sexual needs. She accepts with some reservation, especially when the dungeon master blindfolds her before taking her to the private room. Before the night is over she finds a lot more than hours of intense sexual delights.

So Desiree, which of your books is your personal favorite and why?

Wow, there are so many that I like, but I'd have to say it's a tie between three of them:JOY RIDE, because it's such an intense love story and it took my back to my rock and roll days; RODEO HEAT, because it was a true journey of a woman's sexual awakening and because it shows you don't have to be so young to live your fantasies, and OUT OF CONTROL, because it was five years in the making and it was a gritty departure for me.

Best piece of advice you’ve ever been given.
Write, write, write and never ever give up.

The worst piece of advice you’ve ever been given.
Never write in first person.
Sometimes a story just demands it. I wrote DOWNSTROKE in first and third person because that's how I heard it in my head.

What’s your birth sign and does it accurately reflect your personality?
Cancer, and yes, I'd say it does. Here's the definition:
Such people are easily hurt by the slights of others. These are very complex people, sometimes appearing extremely strong and at other times to be as vulnerable as a child. These people are remarkably good at accumulating things; indeed, they can be unwilling to throw anything out, even relationships that have passed their use-by date. They are generally over-anxious in financial matters, and make great efforts to gather in money; as a rule, they have unusual ups and downs in their early life and so they are compelled to work to keep ahead, but once they get on their feet they keep there. If channeled in the right direction, their enormous sensitivity can become a great source of strength. Once they overcome their touchiness and master their turbulent emotions, their intellect and imagination enable them to become a success in almost anything they undertake.
The main problem for them is to remember not to let the powerful, turbulent emotions of the moment crowd out their normally rational judgment. Their intuitions are reliable and should be trusted.
They are generally gifted with strong imaginations, and it is very easy for them to become excellent artists, writers, composers, or musicians. At heart they are romantic and of a very loving and affectionate disposition.
Long explanation but it really defines who I am

Describe your perfect day.
Wow! Okay, up with the cats and feed them and the deer. Morning spent answering emails, doing promo and writing. Lunch with one of the Sassy Seven. More writing in the afternoon. Dinner while I watch Jeopardy and then reading on my brand new back porch room. Except of course in the winter!

Your bucket list.  What have you done and what’s left to do?
WEll, so far I've gone ziplining and taken a long ride on a Harley with Mr. Tall, Grey and Handsome!
What would I still like to do? Go hang gliding, see Alaska, spend a week in Wyoming at someone's ranch, visit West Texas, sail on a big sailboat in the Gulf of Mexico, hit the NYT best seller list.

List 3 adjectives that describe you best.
Impulsive, impatient, caring

What did you do last night?
Got in bed with the cats, read and watched television

What was the last book you read?

What actor would play you in a movie about your life?
Sascha Alexander (formerly of NCIS and now on Rizzoli and Isles)

Back in high school, which group were you in? The popular crowd, the jocks, the nerds, the burnouts??
A mix of the popular and the nerds. My friends were as varied as my tastes.

Who is your greatest source for inspiration?
My late husband, who gave me the push to get on with my writing and whose voice I still hear in my head

What was your most embarrassing moment?
Oh, well, thank heavens it was a long time ago. In high school I made a skirt in Home Ec (Yes, we had to take it then) and wore it to a basketball game with the current man of my dreams. A tread caught on the bleachers and the skirt came apart. Thank the lord he had a varsity jacket with him which I wrapped around myself while he got me out to the car.

To leap tall buildings at a single bound. Traffic is hell!

Alaska, and I would do all the things and see all the places I've read about. It's my dream trip.
